Sony has announced an updated version of Media Manager is now available.

We covered the initial release of the software last November but if you can't be bothered to read it, here's the condensed version: Media Manager aims to make the transfer of multimedia content to a PSP from a PC – previously a surprisingly unintuitive process for those who tried it – far quicker and easier.

This latest instalment introduces a more instinctive interface with a dual-paned layout, familiar PSP icons, drag-and-drop transfers, embedded media previewing, and even a status bar to indicate the amount of available space on your Memory Stick Duo.

Other additions include expanded options for converting video (ensuring the content is in the proper format for viewing on PSP), music (including one-click extraction from CDs and playlist export) and photos.

Podcast subscription is still offered, of course, but multiple RSS feed downloads are now possible, as is support for Windows Media Center.

Finally, for those hoping to get a little work done while on the move, it's possible to transfer documents in a variety of formats (Excel, Word, HTML, and .txt, amongst others). These can now also be previewed on your PC before transfer.

So if multimedia is your thing, the latest Media Manager has just become your new best friend. Developed by Sony Media Software, it's available for download here for $16.99, while a boxed version boxed of the software (which includes a six-foot USB cable) is also available for $24.99.

No UK release or pricing details have been announced.
