Late last month Google held their annual European Google Play Indie Games Showcase at the Saatchi Gallery in London. Twenty European developers were brought along to showcase their games to industry veterans, members of the curious public, and the press. We went along to check out the entrants and will be giving an introduction to each of them over the next week.

Among the twenty games showcased was AntVentor, from LoopyMood. An adventure game with a miniature hero.

AntVector is a curious adventure game which puts you in the role of a tiny ant with a big job to do. It's made with all of the trappings of an Amantia Design experience: cleverly captured scenes which each deliver more than the standard point and click game 'room' experience. Instead of a more traditional point and click adventure each room is like a slice of animation, the makes each area you walk through feel like it has purpose - rather than just being a click salad for you to spam-tap your way around until you find the reason you are there.

You work with Florentine, an ant inventor (AntVentor) whose intelligence is only matched by his laziness. What starts out as a simple quest to fix one of their creations rapidly spirals into the beginning of a quest to explore the world beyond the ant colony.

Here is the developer's pitch-list for the game:

"Do you want to:

  • Feel what it's like to be the size of an ant, who is leaving his ant colony?
  • Plunge into a unique and surprisingly photo-realistic macroworld outside of the anthill?
  • Shamelessly intrude into the life of the main character?
  • Meet Florantine: a funny, but slightly arrogant smart ant?
  • Laugh at the game’s many comical moments, with a storyline full of humor?
  • Meet scary and cute, huge and tiny inhabitants of the macroworld and enjoy ant adventure quest?
  • Enjoy scrupulously crafted animation and beautiful artwork, consisting of more than 15,000 frames?
  • Appreciate the absence of tedious puzzles, usually created just for taking up your time?
  • Show your puzzle solving skills and find hidden objects?
  • Enjoy in humor, funny stories and vivid animations?
  • Be fascinated by the simple, but a very exciting puzzle adventure storyline with a twist ending?
  • Skip the long dialogues, simply because they do not exist in the game?
  • Listen to original atmospheric bass music?
  • Play point and click adventure games in story mode?

If at least one of your answers is "yes", then this game is for you!"

Florentine's first outing will take most people about 40-60 minutes to complete. You can find AntVentor over on the Google Play store.
