Hardcore Animal Crossing: New Leaf player is more of a pro gamer than you

I treated myself to a New 2DS XL and Animal Crossing: New Leaf in the January sales and already I can feel myself losing most of my life to it. But, uh, probably not like this lady.

Twitter user Paul Hubans was transferring his grandmother's 3DS data over to a new console after her original one sadly broke, and decided to sneak a peek at her activity log while he was doing so. And damn, that lady is serious about Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Huban's grandma has clocked in a whopping 3580 hours on the game over the last four years, and apparently has played at least once a day, every single day. The 3DS totals that up to an average of 1 hour 25 minutes for each session, which is a fair bit of tree-shaking and fossil-digging.

We here at Pocket Gamer spend quite a bit of time playing games, but I doubt anyone in the team has managed to plonk even 1000 hours on a single game in the last four years. Unless Harry isn't telling us everything about his New Star Manager addiction.

But if there's a game you're going to sink thousands upon thousands of hours into, you can't go far wrong with New Leaf. We gave it our Gold Award way back in 2013, with our reviewer saying that it was "the best Animal Crossing has ever been". And that was before the huge Welcome Amiibo update.

So hats off to Huban's grandmother, and may she continue to pour hours and hours into her favourite game. I'm sure many of you lovely readers are jealous of how much time she has to spend on gaming - is there any game you've spent even close to that amount of time on? Let us know in the comments.

Or go ahead and drop something in there along the lines of "wow must be a slow news day". All your thoughts are appreciated.
