Angry Birds Journey, Rovio's newest addition to the franchise, officially launches on Android and iOS

Rovio has officially launched its highly anticipated addition to its insanely popular bird-flinging series, Angry Birds Journey. The game’s name couldn’t be any more apt as it is a culmination of the series’ 12-year long timeline. Angry Birds is a franchise almost everyone knows about and has experienced in the form of games, movies, merchandise and more. Finally, Angry Birds Journey will allow fans to enjoy the classic slingshot action once again.

Angry Birds Journey was initially soft-launched in the USA, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, and Poland, but can now be downloaded worldwide for both Android and iOS. While the core of the game still remains the same, it has been reworked and streamlined to look even better than before. Players can enjoy a fun story and a beautiful world begging to be explored.

The piggies are back and they’re up to no good. This edition of the series will take your favourite flock of birds around the world in search and mythical egg-shaped artifacts called Egg Wonders. They have mysterious powers and the birds need to get to them and activate them before the piggies can. With over a hundred levels to complete and loads of rewards to unlock, Angry Birds Journey is guaranteed to keep players hooked for a while. Plus, who doesn’t love the classic slingshot and destruction of the piggies’ plans?

Speaking about the game’s launch, Rovio CEO Alex Pelletier-Normand said: “The love for the original slingshot gameplay is still strong after 12 years. Today, with the global launch of Angry Birds Journey, we’re happy to present to players an all-new Angry Birds experience that puts the slingshot at center stage. Although much different from the classic games in it’s updated and streamlined gameplay, Angry Birds Journey is filled with the same satisfying gameplay and the same iconic characters that have defined the Angry Birds games over the years. We believe Angry Birds Journey has something to love for long-time Angry Birds fans, but is also more accessible and thus a great entry point for those who have never experienced the classic slingshot games.”

It is a big year for the franchise as they are yet to launch Angry Birds: Summer Madness, a Netflix show launching later this month, and a remake of the original Angry Birds as well. As a fan of the series, 2022 will be a year that will keep giving!
