Alphadia III is Kemco's newest JRPG, and it's out now for mobile
  • Alphadia III is out now on Android and iOS
  • This prequel shows the journey of the Energi clone Alfonso
  • Take on deep tactical combat and mechanics new to the Alphadia series

If you're a fan of JRPGs, you're more than likely intimately familiar with publisher Kemco already. Publishing all manner of cult classics from Japan, they've been consistently putting out new and interesting releases. With their latest release, Alphadia III, coming just in time for the weekend.

If this title sounds familiar, then you've probably already had a chance to play through Alphadias I and II. Alphadia III doesn't continue, but actually predates the Energi War saga experienced in the past two instalments and sees an Energi clone called Alfonso journeying to discover his freedom.

Alphadia III boasts the same deep turn-based combat of the original, with SP Skills that can turn the tide of battle and a variety of new mechanics such as Arrays and Energi Crocks. More than that, you'll also have your own ship, which you can eventually upgrade into a seaplane!

SP Skills are, of course, standard in many other releases such as Dragon Quest, but their addition promises to change up your tactical gameplay. Meanwhile, the Energi Crock lets you recycle magical items into Energi, and Arrays allow you to expand your strategic options in battle.

Alphadia III certainly builds on the mechanics of the original two entries, although some fans may lament it going back in time rather than forward. But it does offer a new perspective on the Energi War that has dominated the narrative. And with gorgeous pixel graphics to enjoy, you'll have even more content to dig into.

Want to find out what else is in store for RPG fans on mobile? Well, you've got plenty of choices, but if you feel spoilt for them, why not get started by digging into our list of the top 25 best iOS and Android RPGs, featuring fun and casual exploration next to grim and gritty fantasy battles.
