Albion Online's Abyssal Depth update launches at the end of next month
  • Albion Online's latest major update, Abyssal Depths, is coming June 30th
  • Jump into the new Abyssal Dungeons and take on an extraction dungeon crawler mode
  • There are also quality-of-life tweaks and other improvements to the tutorial experience

It seems as if the dungeon extraction genre is one that has firmly taken root in the minds of both players and developers alike. You need to only look as far as Albion Online, introducing a very similar experience in its Abyssal Depths update, arriving on June 30th.

These new Abyssal Dungeons are accessed via the Antiquarian's Den, and see groups of two or three players taking on each other in a PvP-focused experience. You'll explore and try to evade or destroy a variety of monsters inhabiting the depths of areas like Caerleon while trying to escape before it collapses.

If this is sounding familiar, then you're not wrong, because this basic extraction format is one that Dark and Darker pioneered and has now become extremely popular. But the Abyssal Dungeons are only a small part of a much wider-ranging update that looks to revamp the experience for players entering the world of Albion Online for the first time.

For one major change, the new post-tutorial experience is now set to be integrated into the existing Albion Journal, designed to help guide new players through the early stages of Albion Online and to help them find their footing.

Abyssal Depths will also bring in a number of miscellaneous improvements, such as UI updates, additional interactive tutorial features and other quality-of-life tweaks. You can keep up to date with the changes in a series of dev talks, the first of which is linked above, which will take you through all the various new additions coming June 30th!

Albion Online presents a stunning PvP-focused take on the RPG genre. But if you're not fussed about jumping into an MMORPG, or you just fancy something a little more focused, why not check out our list of the top 25 best RPGs on iOS and Android for other options?
