A Slight Chance of Sawblades, a brand new indie 2D platformer from the developer of Jump Jerboa, launches

Indie developer ChinyKian, who previously made the platformers Serious Scramblers and Jump Jerboa, has revealed their latest project: another 2D platformer titled A Slight Chance of Sawblades. As the name may reveal, this game is oriented around the idea of you jumping and managing your way through a stage of dangerous sawblades that are sure to cut you up if you don’t manage to avoid them.

Sporting a retro 2D pixelated art style, A Slight Chance of Sawblades acts as a sort of endless survival game while also being a platformer. You’ll enter the stage and take your role at the bottom of the screen as blades drop from the top, with your goal being to simply jump around and avoid them.

Sure, it's simple on paper, but the challenge ramps up as you play through the stage, until eventually there’s dozens of blades on the screen all at once, forcing you to truly test your reflexes and platforming skills to their limit. It gets extremely hard pretty quickly, so you’ll really have to focus and dial in to see how high a score you can reach.

Clearly, ChinyKian has a niche given that all of their games are platformers to some degree, but A Slight Chance of Sawblades shows that they can innovate on the genre and make it interesting in different ways. There are even some light progression elements in this one too!

Those elements come in the form of you being able to spend your points on a gacha system that will unlock one of a variety of different characters for you to play within those stages. These are all cosmetic, and simply just allow you to pick your favourite to motivate that score-chasing.
