Capcom’s 1942: First Strike lands on iPhone

Capcom has released a version of Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network shooter 1942: Joint Strike on iPhone and iPod touch, letting you take this revamped arcade remake on the road with you.

Based on the 1984 arcade cabinet, and including a patchwork collection of features and elements from Capcom’s illustrious 194X series, First Strike lets you pick from three fighter planes as you take to the sky and blast swarms of enemy fighters, bombers, and battleships.

It’s called First Strike on iPhone, instead of Joint Strike, because the co-op play and manoeuvres have been dropped for this mobile release.

The game features eight levels, in three environments, and some seriously tough boss fights. Get a good score, though, and you can brag in the in-game leaderboards. Play is controlled by either touch or tilt - up to you.

1942: First Strike is available now for iPhone and iPod touch for £1.79 / $2.99 / €2.39.
