Wild Rift patch 2.5 preview - What to expect in the next update

After a long delay in the Wild Rift’s upcoming patch 2.5 due to Hurricane Ida, Riot has finally released a preview of the upcoming patch’s content. Patch 2.5 will have loads of skins and will add new champions to the roster. In addition, it has some major changes to the gameplay and modes.

The announcement mentions that the patch update will go live on 14th October and we will make sure to create a detailed breakdown of the changes and additions. For now, let’s take a look at the patch 2.5 preview.

Wild Rift patch 2.5 - New Champions

Caitlyn

Wild Rift patch 2.5 Caitlyn introduction

Caitlyn is one of the longest ranged marksmen in the game. When ahead in gold and XP level, any ADC hero without armour can be melted by her. She is usually played in the bottom lane. Remember to plant traps to trigger a critical hit from her weapon.

Veigar

Reigar introduced in the patch 2.5

Veigar is a midlaner mage with impressive burst damage. His unique skills allow him to gain extra burst damage by clearing creeps and minions. Make sure to equip him with penetration items to bring the best out of him during the late game.

Jayce

Jayce is all about timing and combos. While playing Jayce, always carefully switch between the Mercury Canon and the Mercury Hammer according to the enemy you’re facing. He will be available in-game from November onwards.

Gameplay Changes in patch 2.5

Guild System

guild system changes

From October 14th, the player’s who have reached and crossed level nine can join or create guilds. Those who are willing to join other guilds can do it for free while creating a new one will cost you 200 Wild Cores or 400 Poro Coins.

After joining a guild you can invite its members to join in your lobby. There will also be inter guild wars where you compete against other guilds to earn huge rewards.

Second Rift Herald

In the upcoming patch, there will be two Rift Heralds before Baron Nashor spawns. This addition is aimed to improve the rotation as previously players stuck to the Dragon Lane to slay the only Rift Herald.

Matchmaking changes

There were a lot of complaints about matchmaking, especially in the ranked games. From the upcoming patch, the game will use ratings rather than ranking while matchmaking. An icon will appear right next to the player’s in-game name if their rank is too low or much higher than yours.

ARAM changes

Howling Abyss, the ARAM map, will now have the Scryer’s Bloom, which helps reveal champions hiding in the bush.

Twitch support

Twitch stream button added in Wild Rift patch 2.5

Players can now start streaming to Twitch by simply tapping an icon that will appear on the top while playing a match. In order to do that, make sure you have already connected your account.

New Event and Skins

A new theme event, Way of the Dragonmancer, is scheduled to take place during the next month. There will be various tasks along with exciting rewards and, of course, there will be plenty of skins available to purchase. Below are the skins that’ll be available throughout the event:
