Snoop Dogg, a.k.a. Snoop Lion, has a game out on iOS. It's about fighting and music. And in quite a bizarre turn of events, it's actually pretty good.

Snoop's new game is entitled Way of the Dogg, and it stars a brawler from the mean streets called America Jones. Jones gets double-crossed in a fight at The Pit, so Snoop takes him under his wing (paw?) and trains him to get his revenge.

That training involves "finding the beat", which just happens to reside in a number of Snoop Dogg tracks.

In other words, Way of the Dogg is a rhythm-action game based around Snoop's rap tunes. Instead of playing an instrument, though, you're punching faces.

You need to tap and swipe icons in time to the rhythm to land your blows. When you've built up sufficient power, you can lay the smackdown by tracing a move across the screen.

Way of the Dogg was actually released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 a month ago, but it feels like a more natural fit on touchscreen devices.

There are 14 fights to battle through and a number of training stages that let you hone your tapping and swiping skills while taking on Snoop himself.

Way of the Dogg is available from the App Store right now as a Universal app, priced £1.99 / $2.99. It should go live on the Google Play Store in the not-too-distant future.
