Thunder Game Works's enjoyable tactical WWI game Trenches has been downloaded almost two million times, both in its paid (currently) 99c version and its free Boot Camp training mode version.

But while the US developer is working on the new zombie themed version - called Stenches - it's also found the time to release a free Lite version [App Store link].

Play for free

Trenches Lite gives you two missions of the full campaign, which has you moving your squad of soldiers from trench to trench to win overall control of the battlefield.

You only get to play with a limited set of unit types, but the popular zombie horde mode - which inspired Stenches - is included.

Check out how the game plays, including the multiplayer co-op available in the full paid version, in the following video.
