Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 is one of the remakes that shook the gaming world. Since its release, it became the fastest-selling game in the legendary Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series and it also won Sports Game of the Year awards as well. So, we've made some Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 tips to help you out get back into the game without an effort.

As the name implies, it's a two-game package featuring remakes of the first two Tony Hawk games. Both of these games are widely regarded as all-time classics. They have also propelled Tony Hawk, who was already a skateboarding legend, into a pop culture icon.

After being released on Xbox One and PS4, the game was released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and then finally arriving on the Nintendo Switch, giving the remake a mobile addition of sorts. Here are a few tips to get you kickflipping in the Switch version of the remake.

Practice Manualing

A manual is arguably the most simple trick you can perform in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2. It's also one of the most effective tricks in the game. It requires balance, but man can it be deadly out there if you want to connect for some epic combos.

And if you're on a street-based level, then this is really a dream move. Simply hitting up and down on your analogue stick will make your skater perform a manual. You'll need to keep your balance as you go which can be tricky to master at first, depending on how long you manual for.

But, this will allow you to go from a flip trick to a manual, to a grind, and back to a manual. Rinse and repeat and you'll have yourself a sick combo. That's just an example, but there are other creative ways to go about your manual-filled combos. With a little practice on manual balance, you'll run the streets.

Perform Reverts

Another way to string together some powerful combos in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 is by doing some reverts; another small, but effective trick. Just like the manual, reverts can help lead to some big-time scores out at the skate parks.

A revert is most effective when you're coming down from doing a trick in the air. Right as you land, press the R button on your Switch or Switch Lite. You will perform a brief turn on the ground which allows you to continue your combo. Make sure to go into a manual after doing the revert and then find a rail to grind or another ramp.

Reverts can really be game-changers, especially if you're more a vertical player instead of a street skater out there. It's super simple to do too. Just time your landing, perform the revert, manual, and then find your next target (grind, ramp, table to jump over, etc). Watch the numbers go up. Just try not to wipe out, of course.

Keep an Eye Out for Gaps

Gaps have long been an iconic and signature feature of the Tony Hawk games and it's no exception in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2. Gaps are another thing that can really send your score through the roof. When mixed in with a combo, this can really help.

The only way to really find gaps is by just skating around and pulling off tricks. More than likely, you'll come across a gap by accident. In the pause menu, you can find a list of the gaps on the level that you're skating on, but you won't know for sure as there are no illustrations.

You'll know you found a gap when you hear a camera clicking sound. There will also be a phrase in blue at the bottom of your screen, indicating that it's a gap and the words will likely tell you. If this is your first rodeo, feel free to head into the always fun and helpful Free Skate mode and try and discover some gaps. You don't need them to put together some monster combos, but if you can, it can certainly give you a good push, depending on how high a score the gap gives you.
