Gameloft releases first Splinter Cell: Conviction iPhone trailer
But still no release date for the stealth shooter
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction is 'coming soon', according to a trailer released today.
The video shows the game in dramatic action, with players taking control of ageing special forces operative turned renegade agent Sam Fisher.
As with the evolution of the Splinter Cell series, it's sometimes about trying to be as stealthy as possible. Fisher hides in the shadows, sneaking up on enemies or picking them off from a distance. You can also hack into computer systems.
Other times, you just blow stuff up.
Solo missionsThe trailer showcases some of the cutscenes, along with various styles of combat, including melee hand-to-hand fighting, and weapons, including handgun, shotgun, AK47, sniper rifle, minigun and bazooka.
Graphically it looks pretty sharp, akin to the original PlayStation 2 Splinter Cell games, with smooth animation, fast action and good particle effects.
There's also some nice-looking gadgets on display plus old favourites such as different vision mode and the ability to look through keyholes and kick down doors, all in fully 3D environments.
There's still no release date set, although Gameloft is adding numbers slowly to a teaser image on Facebook.
