Indie narrative-based puzzler These Robotic Hearts of Mine arrives on iOS and Android

Alan Hazelden’s intriguing abstract puzzler These Robotic Hearts of Mine has found its way onto the iOS and Android app stores, after its showing earlier in the year as a finalist at the Eurogamer Expo Indie Game Arcade.

The gameplay is pure abstract puzzling, as you rotate gears in an attempt to correctly orient every heart in the level, like some kind of two-dimensional Rubik’s Cube.

Complete a level and your reward is a single line of narrative text, gradually revealing the story of a boy and a girl and their discovery of a robot in the woods.

It’s all very minimalist and really quite atmospheric, if the game’s trailer is anything to go by. The true test will be whether the game’s narrative can match up to the atmosphere evident in these glimpses, and whether the 2D rotational puzzling can remain satisfying over the course of a few dozen levels.

For a clearer picture of These Robotic Hearts of Mine, check out the trailer for a glimpse of its puzzling and narrative. If you’re already convinced, the game is available now on Apple’s App Store as a universal app for £1.49/$1.99 [buy], and from the Android Market for a similar price [buy].
