After releasing some details about pre-registration rewards a few days ago, the new food-based gacha RPG The Tale of Food has officially launched globally. This new game takes you on the adventure of a lifetime as you, the Master of Food, venture across a fantasy world to gather up Food Souls - humanised versions of various dishes from all across the globe.

With the game garnering over 1 million pre-registrants, it’s clear gacha gamers are more than a little interested in the unique premise that The Tale of Food offers up. With the base version of the game launching with over 100 characters to collect already, each uniquely designed and inspired by different real-world food platters from just about every nation under our sun, there’s a lot of collecting to do for gacha lovers.

And with a premise as interesting as turning food into hot anime boys instead, nobody can deny that The Tale of Food is doing something no other game has done. Add in the normal gameplay mechanics that involve everything from card-collecting elements to an interesting visual novel-styled storyline and you’ve got a recipe for success.

The potentially best part of The Tale of Food is that it seeks to venture away from the high stakes gritty storylines of something like Arknights or Punishing Grey Raven, other gacha genre contemporaries, and replaces it with a story full of good vibes. This is an adventure at its core, and there are no world-ending stakes to speak of. It’s just you, as the Master of Food, seeking to collect every Food Soul out there.
