Players of The Sims Social: your virtual people-managing days are numbered.

EA has just revealed that it will be pulling the plug on Facebook game The Sims Social - along with SimCity Social and Pet Society - on June 14th.

The publisher released statement a explaining the upcoming removal of all three titles from Zuckerberg's social network.

According to the statement, the three games are being shut down so EA can "reallocate development resources to other titles that we hope you'll have just as much fun playing."

While Pet Society has been entertaining Facebook gamers since 2008, and The Sims Social has been online since 2011, SimCity Social went live only last June, a mere 10 months ago.

That same year, The Sims Social became the focus of a nasty legal dispute between EA and Zynga, with the former accusing the latter of incorporating elements The Sims Social into The Ville.

In the statement, EA pointed to other failing social titles on Facebook, saying: "for people who have seen other recent shutdowns of social games, perhaps this is not surprising."

We assume EA is referring to games like Glitch and Ghost Recon: Commander, neither of which were able to attract enough of an audience to sustain them.
