When we first looked at The Shroud – the clever-clever RPG meets GPS game from ambitious new Florida-based studio Your World Games – we weren't sure if it would ever get a release in Europe, let alone the UK.

We're still not, but it's now looking more likely with the announcement that Sony BMG Music has signed a worldwide co-publishing deal to get the game onto operator's portals across the globe.

To recap, The Shroud boasts several cutting-edge concepts, the principle one being that your location in the real world has an effect on what happens in the game.

In design, it mixes roleplaying elements with almost Japanese-style whimsical touches, such as the central framework of the game – you're leader of your own farming community – and the International Farmer's League, which will see GPS-enabled players engaging in competitive agriculture across the airwaves.
