The Rise of the Golden Idol: The Lemurian Phoenix is arriving this month

With its complex narrative of cursed treasure and ancient civilisations, paired with modern mysteries and murders, it's no surprise that Rise of the Golden Idol, the sequel to the original Case of the Golden Idol, has proved a hit with players. Now, its second (and largest thus far) DLC, Rise of the Lemurian Phoenix, is set to arrive on May 13th!

For those not in the know, Rise of the Golden Idol offers a distinctive twist on the murder mystery, point-and-click adventure format. By exploring and investigating a given scene, you uncover keywords which, when put together, will (ideally) spell out what, why and whodunnit.

Of course, it never tends to be that easy, and with a mix of very human motivations with ancient technology sprinkled in, you never know what to expect. Except, that is, for grisly murders and gruesome mysteries where everyone is a suspect.

While developer Color Gray Games is, naturally, quite secretive about what you can expect from The Lemurian Phoenix, they did offer a juicy tidbit with a cryptogram that unveils the names of the five upcoming chapters packed into this DLC.

Fans can look forward to the new chapters titled: Eternity's End, Ascension, Royal Blood, Revelation and A Blaze of Glory.

What do these titles have in common with themes of religious fervour, charismatic gurus and brutal power struggles? Well, you'll just have to play for yourself to find out! The Lemurian Phoenix will be available to purchase on May 13th, and is free for holders of the Detective Pass and those playing via Netflix Games.
