The Realm misses Kickstarter funding goal, vows to return later in the year
Lack of US payments an issue
One of the hardest skills to learn in life is how to accept defeat and disappointment with dignity.
Atomhawk Design, the studio behind the graphically-gorgeous adventure title The Realm, proved that it can lose with grace when it announced that it failed to reach its Kickstarter funding goal.
After raising £94,527 ($142,000), Polygon reports that The Realm became one of the top funded U.K. Kickstarter titles but it still fell well short of its targeted sum of £195,000 ($293,000).
"We may not have have won the battle but the war is not over yet!" Atomhawk stridently declared, before noting that "the lack of US payments was a crucial factor in hurting our campaign."
RealmraiserTaking defeat in stride, Atomhawk went on to say that it plans to relaunch its Kickstarter later in 2013 with a US account.
While we were impressed with what we saw of The Realm's design and graphics early on - the lack of gameplay footage was quite noticeable. To address this, Atomhawk plans to release actual game footage of the point-and-click adventure title to compliment its new Kickstarter.
Although we'd rather have reported that The Realm would be on its way to your tablets sooner than later, it's reassuring to know that the light on this game hasn't quite gone out.
