Kickstarter launches for English language version of The Mysterious Cities of Gold game for iOS and 3DS

If you grew up in the 1980s, chances are good that you'll remember a cartoon called The Mysterious Cities of Gold.

The beloved anime recently received a new season currently airing in Europe, and that season in turn is inspiring an upcoming adventure game The Mysterious Cities of Gold: Secret Paths.

If you speak French, you're in luck - the game's going to happen for you and you can pick it up for your 3DS, iPad, iPhone, Wii U in the months ahead.

If you don't speak French, you'll want to check out French-based developer Ynnis Interactive's Kickstarter which is aimed localising the game for an English-speaking international audience.

Every day and night with the condor in flight

Speaking candidly, Ynnis Interactive notes that its "initial plans were to release the game in French only; the new season is directed in France, and airing only in French-speaking territories, where it's the most popular."

After receiving a mountain of emails from around the world, however, Ynnis realized that there was a strong international demand for the game and thus the Kickstarter was born.

If the $30,000 funding goal is reached by September 29, Ynnis Interactive will release a full English language version of The Mysterious Cities of Gold: Secret Paths for the platforms listed above as well as a PC version.

Those interested in donating can visit the Kickstarter page. A bid of $12 secures you a digital copy of the iOS version, while $15 secures you a 3DS, PC, or Wii U version.

And for those nostalgic for the original theme song…
