Discover your iPhone's potential in The Crystal Maze
And there's a mobile sequel on the way, too
Richard O'Brien leaping around like a loon, baffled guests trying to solve tricky mental tests, failing and crying, you spilling baked beans down the front of your new school jumper – such are the memories of a childhood with Channel 4's idiosyncratic 1990s gameshow The Crystal Maze.
Successfully released on mobile this summer by Dynamo Games (best know for its work with Eidos' Championship Manager mobile) it seems that a wider geographical level of interest for the game will soon be tested, as it receives a graphical and touchscreen brush-up for an iPhone / iPod touch release. We're led to believe that the 20 mini-games will be the same in this version as in the mobile one, although some may make use of iPhone features such as tilt using the accelerometer.
However, for those of you wanting extra The Crystal Maze trickery, the good news is that plans are underway for an all-new version of the game due sometime in 2009. This will include another 20-odd mini-games, which once again will be based on those from the TV series.
As for those rumours about the show being remade with an outrageous comic who recently might have found himself with extra time on his hands, we wouldn't like even to speculate.
