TerraGenesis, the immersive space colony/terraforming sim from Edgeworks Entertainment, arrived on Android this week, giving you free reign to transform our solar system’s planets into habitable worlds. Nurturing viable atmospheres and creating ecosystems from the ground up is not an easy task—you’re essentially playing god. However, if you’re just starting out in TerraGenesis, we have a few tips to help you get started on your path to colonizing alien worlds. Off you go.

The pause button is your friend

You can pause anytime by accessing the Control Panel. Simply tap the top bar when in the game. Pausing will keep your projects in stasis until you can get back to them. This will prevent you from returning to any nasty surprises after a peaceful night’s sleep.

Matter can neither be created nor destroyed

The laws of physics apply in TerraGenesis, so pay close attention. When tinkering with your atmosphere, remember that water never simply goes away, but rather moves between its different states depending on the atmospheric temperature. Ice in the atmosphere can melt quickly if you change the temperature abruptly, which could cause severe flooding and ruin all of your hard work.

Carry your Genesis Points with you

When you’re ready to move on to the next world, you can carry your Genesis Points with you. If you have points left over, select “Get Genesis Points” when you open your next world, which allows you to transfer GP from a previous game. Simple.

You can swap languages

TerraGenesis defaults to the language your device is set to, but you can always change it if you’re seeing a language you don’t prefer. Go to the Settings menu and remove any languages you don’t need from the “acceptable languages” list.

Don’t be afraid to play around with the difficulty settings
Different game modes, or difficulty settings, give you access to vastly different systems and event trees. Enabling Biospheres alone can totally transform your experience. If you’ve successfully colonized a world on one difficulty setting, make sure you go back and try again on a different difficulty or with Biospheres enabled. You’ll be amazed by the new things you can achieve.
