More details of Tactics Ogre for PSP emerge – new class, no longer gender specific

Square Enix has revealed more details to Famitsu on how the PSP remake of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together will differ from the original SNES and PSX versions.

On top of the new graphics and ‘Wheel of Fortune’ battle system, Tactics Ogre will also do away with its traditional gender-specific classes for the characters in your party.

This doesn’t mean that the male characters can now wear skirts without the other members of the party picking on them, but does mean that archers, originally female-specific, can be men, and the female fighter class, Amazon, has been melded into one gender non-specific class, simply called Warrior.

The magic casting Witch though still retains the male equivalent, Wizard, it seems the glass ceiling still exists in the stuffy world of magic.

Of more importance to gameplay is the inclusion of a new class into the mix. The Rogue has the ability to steal items and cash from enemies in the field as well as place traps for unsuspecting foes to step in. There’s no word on whether this particular class will be available in both male and female form.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together does not yet have a release date so we’ll be keeping a close eye on the official webpage. We expect both male and female Pocket Gamers to do the same.
