Strange Horticulture is free on the Epic Games Store this week
  • Strange Horticulture is the Epic Games freebie of the week
  • Run your own bizarre botanical shop in the town of Undermere
  • Solve mysteries, help customers and find new, bizarre plants

Whoever said that working at a gardening centre couldn't strain your sanity? Well, in Strange Horticulture, free this week on the Epic Games Store, owning your own eldritch botanical shop might do just that. In the town of Undermere, it's not just the bizarre botanicals you have to watch out for.

You may remember us covering Strange Horticulture a couple of years back. In this mixture of story and puzzler, you'll simply be tasked with running a botanical store and helping customer solve their ailments and other problems. How? Naturally, by making use of the many strange herbs at your disposal.

Of course, this isn't exactly accepted science, so you won't be drawing on any typical medical textbooks. Instead, it's up to you to slowly unravel the mystery of which plant to use by examining your records, doing field research and piecing things together from contextual clues.

Part Poirot, part potion

Of course, it's not always that straightforward. Because in the town of Undermere, in typical Lovecraftian fashion, dark secrets are practically spilling out of every doorway. And when there are slayings of a local witch coven, it'll be up to you to figure out how to solve the mystery.

Unsurprisingly, I'm pretty excited to see Strange Horticulture come to the Epic Games Store. Having covered it back when it first released and offering up a pretty glowing review, I think I'm fair in saying that this is well worth a go if you've got the time on your hands this weekend.

And if you still find yourself in need of stuff to do, well, first of all, how are you blazing through stuff so quickly? Second of all, why not check out our latest list of the top five new mobile games to try this week for a starter?
