Out at midnight: Steam Punks is a Victorian version of Mega Man X

This evening, indie developer Monster Robot Studios will release its Android action game Steam Punks on the App Store.
It's a retro-style Mega Man-inspired run-and-gun game, set in a parallel steampunk universe. You play elite enforcer Dunns Calhan, whose job it is to take on the Bowler Gang and retrieve a stolen gizmo.
Cue a bunch of levels that you can take on in any order you see fit. Cue a cast of boss baddies. Cue a handful of different weapons to unlock and upgrade. Cue a town hub with shops from which to buy stuff.
Steam Punks is a little rough around the edges, but the controls are solid, the art's great, and it's generally a fun little time sink. Check out our video above and decide whether you'll be stumping up the £1.49 / $1.99 when it hits the UK and US App Stores later tonight.
