EA has soft-launched Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, a turn-based RPG, on iOS
Dark or light side?
Fancy a turn-based RPG set in the Star Wars universe? You've got it. EA has soft-launched Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes on iOS.
Currently, it's available in Australia, Romania, Russia, Malaysia, and Singapore. It's expected to launch worldwide before the end of the year on both iOS and Android.
Since that announcement we did get a trailer that revealed it wasn't a card-battler as we initially thought, though.
What it does have is hero collecting, which has become another staple of the mobile RPG as of late.
You collect heroes from either the Dark or Light side of the force to form your team. They each have their own special attacks and abilities for you to mix and match.
The leader of your team is the most important as they have extra powerful attacks. As we said before, that includes Darth Sidious's Force Lightning and Chewbacca's Wookiee Rage.
You then take your team on missions across familiar locations from the Star Wars universe in the single player.
As said, battles are turn-based, and unfortunately there's not world roaming. Missions are a series of encounters with the enemy.
At least there's also the chance to battle against other players in PvP modes. And you can mix light and dark heroes for those battles.
It's up to you, then. You can get yourself an iTunes account in one of the soft-launched countries and download Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes on the App Store right now.
Or you can wait until it's finished and released globally in the next couple of months. Make sure to register your details on the game's website too.TouchArcade
