Details about the mysterious PS Vita title Soul Sacrifice are coming from the strangest places. This month’s Dengeki PlayStation magazine, for example, confirms Teruhiro Shimokawa as the game’s director.

Many fans assumed that Capcom and Mega Man legend Keiji Inafune would direct the game, but Dengeki PlayStation identifies him as ‘the conceptor’ of the game.

As the conceptor, Inafune is credited with coming up with the game’s concept (as you might expect) whereas the lower-profile Teruhiro Shimokawa will handle the actual game direction according to Andriasang.

Direct to Vita

A casual gamer can be forgiven for not recognizing Teruhiro Shimokawa’s name straight away, as he is not a household name like Infaune.

To date, Shimokawa is most famous for his scenario work on the Mega Man Star Force series of Nintendo DS games.

Outside of the Mega Man Star Force franchise, Shimokawa’s name is only found in the ‘Special Thanks’ section (as Teruhiro Shimogawa) of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth - another DS title published by Capcom.

What this choice of director means for Soul Sacrifice is unclear, although Dengeki PlayStation credits Shimokawa as having some rather radical ideas such as games deleting save data when a character dies (thankfully, this will not make its way into Soul Sacrifice).
