Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice has been delayed until 2016, and that's a good thing
Needs longer in the oven
Sega has announced that Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice won't be coming out this year after all. You can expect it come out on 3DS in 2016 instead.
In an announcement on its blog, Sega said that Fire & Ice needs some extra time and polish before it will be ready to face the public.
Probably a good decision given the terrible reviews of Sonic Boom: Rise of the Lyric on Wii U last year - the game that Fire & Ice is a sequel to.
Sega also said that the benefits of this delay "will be a stronger, more enjoyable experience." And added that it "think[s] that's important, not just for this one game, but for all future Sonic titles."
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice returns to the series' roots in 2D platforming but adds puzzle elements. The fire and ice in the title refer to powers that Sonic wields to smash through obstacles.
You can also play as Amy, race against bots, and face a new villain known as D-Fekt.
