Cover Orange publisher FDG Entertainment has sent side-scrolling pixel-art slasher Slayin on a quest across Apple's New Zealand App Store.

For those of you who weren't listening a couple of weeks ago, Slayin is an "endless action-RPG" in which you're tasked with slicing and dicing as many monsters as you possibly can before you're mercilessly slain.

As you play, you can use the experience you earn in battle to level-up and increase the stats of your brave knight, powerful wizard, or humble knave protagonist.

There is one small catch, though: if your on-screen battler falls in combat, he's gone for good.

So, you lose your XP, all of your hard-earned equipment, and the treasures you've just fought so bravely to get your armour-clad mitts on.

Slayin features a wide variety of monsters and bosses (including a massive dragon), more than 100 unique missions, and three different game modes.

It also has Game Center support, so you can challenge your friends, enemies, and frenemies to beat your best scores.

Check out Slayin's gameplay in the trailer above.

If Slayin tickles your pickle, grab it from the App Store as a Universal app from midnight this evening. It will set you back 69p / 99c.
