Call it a mark of the firm's sympathy or simply a smart business opportunity, Stonetrip has announced it is to offer a discounted rate for its ShiVa3D engine to developers that signed up for rival Torque.

InstantAction's Torque Engine went under when the firm – previously known as GarageGames before its purchase by InterActiveCorp in 2007 - announced it was winding down operations on November 12.

Cost cutting

As a result, Stonetrip claims it will offer Torque developers a 50 percent discount on a license for its ShiVa3D engine, bringing the price down from €1499 to €749.50.

The firm will also deduct the original cost of Torque Engine's license, bringing the final price in at €580.50.

"Because of the way ShiVa3D is designed, Torque engine users will find the transition to ShiVa3D a smooth and painless process, but we'll be on hand to support developers through that process," said Stonetrip CEO Philip Belhassen.

Developers interested in taking advantage of the offer are advised to visit Stonetrip's website.
