Middleware provider Stonetrip has announced that its ShiVa 3D development technology now supports iPad; Apple's new format joining a list seven platforms strong.

The company claims ShiVa 3D is the "fastest growing engine technology available". The software is designed to create 3D real-time applications with relative ease.

"The market is very competitive and having powerful tools early gives developers the opportunity to compete and have a first mover advantage on emerging platforms," said CEO Philip Belhassen.

Stonetrip added Android to ShiVa 3D's formats base earlier this month too, and Belhassen added the firm will continue to add additional platforms in the months to come.

As such, with PC, Mac, Web, Linux, iPhone, and Android already supported, Belhassen also confirmed Stonestrip's plans to continue licensing the engine across all formats on a per development seat rather than per platform basis.
