| Shifter

Shifter is a game of tiny puzzle worlds that you need to rearrange to reach the exit. It's tricky, but this is off-balanced by how cute it also is.

You'll be able to find this out yourself as it arrives on iOS and Android in July. And if you're a fan of Nitrome games you'll want to wait for this one - it's inspired by them.

The reason I know what Shifter is like to play is due to it having been released as a browser game back in January. You can still play it on Newgrounds, in fact.

As you'll discover, the idea is to guide the little character to the sculpture that looks like a face. However, you have to open up its mouth first by weighing down the floor switch next to it.

This usually involves pushing a crate on to the switch. But the tricky part is aligning the parts of the level to allow for that.

In the mobile version, you'll be able to switch to a grid overlay of the 2D world by using two fingers.

With this view, the level is divided into squares. You can move the one around that the character is stood in. So you can change where ladders lead to and how the platforms connect.

Once you're done, you just pinch your fingers on the screen to return to the normal view. A simple but a neat idea. And, as said, it has that Nitrome look, so there's plenty to love.

Keep an eye out for updates on the iOS and Android versions of Shifter on its website.
