SD Gundam G Generation Eternal is set to open a network test in the new year for US players
  • SD Gundam G Generation Eternal is not dead, despite a lack of news since 2022
  • In-fact it's set to hold an upcoming network test that'll allow entrants from the US
  • 1500 spots are available, with applications now open

Fans of Gundam can rejoice, as the upcoming SD Gundam G Generation Eternal, the latest entry in the strategy JRPG franchise, is not dead! In fact, it's set to hold a network test that'll allow entrants not just from Japan, Korea and Hong Kong, but also the United States! With applications now open until December 7th, it'll be the first chance for 1500 lucky entrants to get their hands on the upcoming release from the 23rd to the 28th of January 2025.

The SD Gundam franchise sees you taking on the role of various pilots from the iconic mecha series, commanding them in grid-based strategic battles. And by "various" pilots we mean virtually all of them, as the SD Gundam series is well-known for featuring a truly forbidding amount of mecha and characters from throughout the franchise.

While the iconic Japanese mecha franchise is well-known even beyond its home shores, you may not be familiar with the equally popular SD Gundam line. Standing for "super deformed" these are smaller, stylised kits that let fans put together cutesy, compressed versions of iconic mecha. These were, at one point, so popular they even eclipsed the original!

Coming to America

I've no doubt that fans of Gundam will flock towards the newest entry in SD Gundam. Although if there's anything that's a constant source of griping it's that Bandai Namco's games published for the series tend to be somewhat irregular in terms of quality, or end up axed before their time. Hopefully, SD Gundam G Generation Eternal (that's a name to give you RSI) will manage to be one of the better releases!

Meanwhile, if you're looking for a bit more in terms of strategy to tide you over, why not check out Cristina Mesesan's review of Total War: Empire, freshly ported to iOS and Android to see what this newcomer to the series thought of Feral's latest adaptation?
