Continuing its trawl through major gaming genres, Gameloft has released its turn-based strategy game Rogue Planet.

Although, technically it's not Gameloft's turn-based strategy game being developed by French studio Agharta; one of the few instances on the App Store where Gameloft has acted as a publisher, not a developer/publisher.

Anyhow, the game itself follows the blueprint of turn-based strategy games such as Advance Wars, with 19 missions that have you commanding your troops and units, as well as indulging in some light resource management.

Inbetween missions, you get cutscenes a la Command & Conquer to drive the plotline that has you recapturing the Earth from alien invaders.

As well as the 19 Campaign levels, there are 15 Quick Play maps, which you can fight using either side of the battling forces.

There's also a multiplayer option, which uses both Bluetooth and local wi-fi. Online multiplayer will be supported in the next update.

You can see how it all works in the following video.
