Recoil Games's visually striking auto-runner Rock Runners will dash onto App Stores worldwide at midnight this evening.

In Rock Runners, an intergalactic miner with an oversized bonce and his colourful pals take centre stage. You have to guide these fleet-footed folk through a series of mining colonies, avoiding toxic chemicals and collecting star-shaped gems as you go.

As in Ubisoft's ace Rayman Jungle Run, you use simple taps to control when your character jumps. You will also have to make good use of your laser grappler if you want to make it though the game's 140 levels intact.

There are even some orange and blue portals which can warp you to a different area of the level. No idea where developer Recoil Games got the inspiration for that gameplay concept from. None. Whatsoever.

Though you'll have to wait until later this evening to play Rock Runners for yourself, one thing we can tell you is that is a fantastic-looking game.

As you can see in the launch trailer (above), the beautifully rendered alien backgrounds and futuristic machinery really bring the game's four worlds to life.

Rock Runners will be available on iOS from midnight tonight around the world for 69p / 99c. Check back with us for our review of this game later in the week.
