Jules Verne on your Symbian handset!

80 days around the... oh, hang on. It's not that one.

Jules Verne on your Symbian handset!

Okay, so The Mysterious Island may not be the highest profile Jules Verne book ever, but it's still a classic. And now it's been turned into a mobile game by Tetraedge, called Return To Mysterious Island.

Available for Symbian Series 60 3rd edition handsets only – you can see a list here to work out if this means your phone – it has you playing as Mina, a round-the-world yachtswoman who gets shipwrecked on, yes, a mysterious island.

As you can see from the screenshots, it looks marvellous, capitalising on the power of Symbian handsets.

The game is a mixture of exploration and puzzle-solving, and includes an inventory system where you can mix and match items to serve your purpose.

Oh, and there's the ubiquitous 'ambient' sounds, which I reckon means Brian Eno stroking a singing whale while pan-pipes play in the distance. Something like that.

Return To The Mysterious Island has just gone on sale, and costs just over a fiver.
