Red Reign is a vibrant, colorful strategy game that is exclusive to the Apple Arcade. It features a battle between four completely unique factions. You can choose any of these when heading into war. These groups include the Humans, Faes, Orcs, and even the Undead which was included recently.
As with most strategy games, you will be able to quickly to plan your attack and defense of your base. You'll deploy soldiers as well as collect coins and wood for your defense. Overall, the game is fairly easy to understand but is tricky to become a master at.
Many strategy games can seem a bit overwhelming at times, but Red Reign is relatively straightforward, with only a few key things to remember. In this article, we give you a few basic tips to take note of as you dive into this unique, strategic world.
Mix Up Your Army
When training and deploying your soldiers in Red Reign, you can either set out knights, or you can place some archers. It's easy to just spam a bunch of sword wielders, but it may be wise to mix things up a bit. Go back and forth between spamming knights and archers.
Knights or warriors will charge the enemy and swing their swords. What makes them great is that they prevent the enemies from charging. The downside is that these knights will take a lot more damage since they're charging in head-on.
And then you have archers and the benefit of these arrow shooters is that they guard your territory and fire at enemies from afar. If you have enough lined up, you can take down enemies before they even reach the archers so they act as both offensive and defensive soldiers. So both have their benefits, therefore, if you have the means, mix things up a bit and it could help your team.
Mine a Lot of Gold
One big key to winning in Red Reign is to build your army into a juggernaut. One major way of doing this is by earning coins. You gain gold coins by mining. Mining away will allow you to build up enough gold to begin unleashes the troops.
This is highly important of course because many of your troops will die, so it's always good to restock as much as you can and defend your base. You will also have the ability to chop some wood and make your fortress greater and more defensive.
Both of these are important, but the need for soldiers is a bit more immediate if that makes sense. As great as a fortress may be, it can still get destroyed. So having as many troops as possible is great and will give you time to chop wood and beef up the base. Best of both worlds.
Take Advantage of Training Mode
The Training mode available in Red Reign really comes in handy if you want to improve your strategic game when starting out. It's also great if you're trying to perfect your craft. So even if you have some experience, it's still a great mode to make use of.
In this mode, you can work on your defense abilities and doing some simultaneous work between mining, grabbing wood, and building up your fortress and army. You'll get a really good sense of how everything operates before you step into a real battle.
You will be able to choose between the four factions and practice away. And no matter where you are on your path to Red Reign greatness, there is never a bad time to train and work on your craft.
