Not keen on Windows Phone 7 though

Carmack promises attempt to make an Android version of RAGE

As we reported on Friday, id co-founder John Carmack has been spilling the beans on his latest cross-platform uber-project RAGE.

After detailing the exact nature of the iPhone version, he proceeded to hit Twitter to confirm rumours that an Android version was indeed in the works.

Well, sort of. The Tweet reads:

“I am going to take a stab at bringing Rage up on Android soon, but we have NOT committed to a product.”

Blue screen of nothing

At least he’s taking a stab at it, though, which is more than can be said for Windows Phone 7.

It might be the most overtly game-oriented mobile platform (until the PlayStation Phone arrives, at least), but its C# programming language has put this particular industry legend off.

“Odds of a win7 phone port are very low due to no c++ support,” Tweeted Carmack.

Premium games leading on an Apple platform while giving Microsoft the cold shoulder? My, times have changed.
