Quite why phone manufacturers are getting all excited about the clockspeed of their devices’ chips is a moot point (isn’t it all supposed to be about battery life guys?), but get excited they are. The first model to break the 1GHz barrier is Toshiba’s monster TG01, which uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip architecture to provide the grunt.

Anyhow, while playing around with the phone at the World Mobile Congress 09 – actually it’s less a phone and more a huge 800x600 pixel touchscreen with an ugly user interface that looks like it’s been designed by a programmer – we noticed the TG01 comes with an embedded version of Prince of Persia HD.

Verdict: looks great, plays not so great, although that seems to be more the fault of the temperamental touchscreen than the game per se.
