Interested in Pokemon? Yeah!

Want to have an early play of the new Pokemon game on a shiny new Nintendo 3DS XL? Most definitely!

Want to see familiar Pokemon elements mashed up with an esoteric strategy game set in feudal Japan? Erm, sure.

Only joshing. We're actually quite intrigued to see how Pokemon Conquest turns out, as it melds everyone's favourite cast of battling creatures with super-involving strategy game Nobunaga's Ambition. Which we loved on iOS, incidentally.

Sneak peek

Now, you can be among the first to try out this unusual blend by attending the Manchester MCM Expo (buy tickets here), which will be taking place this Saturday (July 21st). That means you'll get the opportunity to play Pokemon Conquest almost a week before its UK launch on July 27th.

Even better than that, you'll get to play this new game on a Nintendo 3DS XL console, which isn't set to launch anywhere in the world until July 28th. The Nintendo 3DS XL is a super-sized version of the original 3DS with a 90 per cent bigger screen - all the better to appreciate a 3D Bulbasaur with.

In addition to Pokemon Conquest, you'll be able to play a selection of other new titles on the pumped-up handheld, including New Super Mario Bros. 2.

Bring your Nintendo 3DS and you'll also be able to take part in a Mii hunt around the venue. The winner will get a Super Mario 3D Land lanyard, which doesn't sound like the most exciting prize to me, but I suppose it's the taking part that counts.
