At the start of 2010, it seems as if we're hearing about a new iPhone game discovery scheme on a weekly basis. One of the most interesting is iPhoneGameRebate.com.

Set up by US outfit Ph03nix New Media, it seeks to provide a promotional outlet for iPhone games by getting developers and publishers to sign up to provide rebates and discounts external to the price cuts provided within the App Store.

"Offering rebates to iPhone users creates a whole new world of promotional opportunities for iPhone game publishers and developers," said Jon Lam, Ph03nix's CEO and founder.

"This is the first program of its kind for the iPhone, which means we'll see a lot of exciting initiatives as companies use this program in unique and creative ways."

To launch the website, the first offer lets gamers receive a $1 rebate on any iPhone game bought before 15th January 2010.

To get this, people will have to register their details, including postal address, on the website and send in their iTunes receipt. The cash rebate will then be sent out, via postal address it seems.

Publishers or developers interested in participating in the rebate program can inquire via [email protected]
