Gamescom '11: critically acclaimed iPhone skill shot puzzler Orbital bouncing onto WP7 in October

At Microsoft's Gamescom press conference today, it was announced that PG Silver Award-winning skill shot puzzler Orbital is coming to Windows Phone.

Published by Microsoft itself and developed by Swiss studio bitforge, Orbital will be available in the Windows Marketplace in October and will feature Xbox Live integration to challenge friends.

Orbital on iPhone was memorable for three reasons: the abovementioned Silver Award, the fact that nobody mysteriously bought this excellent ball-bouncing puzzle game, and a piracy rate of 80 per cent in its first week on the App Store.

Microsoft and bitforge will, of course, being trying to ensure the first event gets repeated when Orbital debuts on the Windows Phone platform in the autumn.

They'll be less keen on the low sales figures and the rampant copyright infringement, I imagine.
