Off the AppStore: Making sense of nonsense on Ozwomp's Voyage

- Enter the "world" of a flying unicorn donut
- Fly freely, slowly, or quickly, around the shifting dimensions
- Explore the different dimensions and decide why you're here
Welcome to Off The AppStore, a weekly feature with a twist. Namely, that while these - as with all the games we cover here - are games that you can play on your phone, they're ones that operate outside of the realms of the big two ways to play: The Google Play Store and the Apple AppStore.
That means that there might be a bit of work required in downloading alternative AppStores or APKs, or that the games can simply be played in your phone browser. We'll make sure to detail that for each game though. Anyway, read on to find a new game or experience to play Off The AppStore.
We spend so much of our time looking for ways to use whatever free time that we manage to get throughout our days of work, errands, and other life activities. It's all about trying to find good things that are worth our time, or the absolute worst things, which are still worth our time but in a much more bitter way. There are just too many things for us to find and absorb, leaving all sorts of impressions on minds and souls. But among the piles of content, sometimes the strangest and most unusual gems are the ones that shine the brightest. In the world of mobile, a light is being emitted from Ozwomp's Voyage by Loom/Melonking.
Your first challenge when you boot up the adventure is just trying to figure out what Ozwomp is (you could read the page description, but where's the fun in that?). Looking at… him (?), Ozwomp appears to be a donut of indeterminate flavour with a unicorn head. However, his head and limbs are all more polygonal than you might expect, but that just allows him to fit in with his surroundings. Also, thanks to his unicorn parts, Ozwomp can fly with minimal drag thanks to the enormous hole in his chest. Additionally, he can phase through particular objects, although this may be a technical oversight.

The story is that Ozwomp has been invited to a party… somewhere in the universe. Whether it's this universe or another entirely is unclear, but that's not an issue for Ozwomp. He can fly freely and infinitely through the air and space as he tries to get to the party. Your fingers will control his speed and direction as he explores each of the new dimensional realms that he flies into. However, the only way to open the portals is to collect all the different Hard Disks that are still relevant enough to hold confusing arrangements of words. And even though Ozwomp can't be harmed, the obstacles are very real and prepared to bump him around.
Ozwomp's Voyage is indeed a voyage, but one that you can enjoy in all its trippy, surreal, and non-sequitur glory. You can come to your own conclusions about what's going on and what Ozwomp is, but that's part of the appeal. The overall strangeness will have you wondering whether this supposed party can promise as much as the voyage itself.
Ozwomp's Voyage is available to download and play on its itch.io page!
