[UPDATE] Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath for PS Vita to be finished in June
UPDATE: Just Add Water has got in touch to say that while the team is looking to finish the game in June, that isn't the release date. Edited story follows:

Just Add Water has told the US PlayStation Blog that the PS Vita version of console classic Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath will be finished in June - just a few months after the team started work on porting the title.

CEO Stewart Gilray, speaking on the blog's podcast, said that the team had only begun work "about five and a half weeks ago", with the coder tasked with the job having "never touched a Vita before".

"He probably spent half a week reading the documentation and then the next week he already had the code running. He was surprised how quickly he managed to get things going," Gilray added.

Dead or alive

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath was initially developed for the original Xbox back in 2005, and detailed the journey of a bounty hunter named Stranger in the Oddworld universe, who would collect bounties and return them dead or alive.

It's a third- and first-person action game that doesn't use traditional weapons or guns, instead relying on bizarre contraptions that fire "living" ammunition.

The game's HD re-release last year on the home consoles got a warm reception from critics, so we're looking forward to seeing what Just Add Water can bring to the Vita version.

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath will be out sometime later this year.
