Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon is a delightfully retro dungeon crawler, out now for iOS and Android
  • Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon is out now for iOS and Android
  • The former Apple Arcade exclusive mixes RPG elements and dungeon crawling
  • Take on hordes of monsters, switch characters on the fly or team up with couch co-op

Once more, we've got another breakout from Apple Arcade hitting the wider storefronts on iOS and Android, as Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon releases today. This classy nouveau-retro take on the dungeon crawler format offers plenty of excitement for fans of the genre, as well as an opportunity for those already familiar with it to jump in again.

At a glance, you can see exactly why Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon made such an impression. Ditching the 3D graphics of previous entries in the series, it embraced a retro aesthetic, but with plenty of fast-paced action to complement it.

In Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon, you take on the role of adventurers in the shattered kingdom of Arcadia. You have been tasked with rewriting the course of history by exploring the titular dungeon and finding an artefact called the Paradigm Hourglass with the power to alter the past.

Gotta' get back, back to the past

Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon seems to offer a pretty full grab-bag of features for fans of RPGs and dungeon crawlers. You've got fast-paced real-time action where you can switch between characters on the fly (perfect for those who find turn-based a bit too tedious), alongside an immense dungeon with plenty of mechanics, such as a rising risk factor to deal with.

While I can see it not necessarily hitting all the marks for dedicated followers of either genre, for those wanting to see what this enticing mixture of the two is all about, it's well worth digging into Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon for yourself to see what you make of it.

And if you're not exactly new to the genre, you probably won't find Chronos Dungeon too difficult to clear. So, if you're always looking for a fresh new RPG to 100% why not check out our list of the top 25 best RPGs on iOS and Android?
