Industry awards are nice when they salute games that you haven't heard of – bringing gems to the attention of the wider world that you otherwise might have missed.

Such is the case with the UIQ Open awards, which have just been announced, and which celebrate games and apps written for phones running the UIQ user interface (for example, Sony Ericsson's W950, P990 or M600).

Two games were lauded in the awards' Entertainment category. Warring Nations is a turn-based strategy game developed by Inscenic Studios, which involves trading diplomacy, fortress-building and bloodthirsty battling.

Meanwhile, Tilelander is an action / puzzle game developed by Ludimate, with 70 levels, more tiles than you can throw a stick at and plenty of explosions.

Congratulations guys!
