Trio of top indie games will be free for PlayStation Plus users at launch

Newly formed publisher Ripstone has announced that it will make three of its upcoming Vita titles free for PlayStation Plus subscribers as part of a European exclusive promotion called PlayStation Plus Presents.

PPP, as we're going to call it, is a new initiative from Sony aimed at promoting indie and more leftfield games on the popular subscription service, allowing gamers to download titles for free for up to eight weeks after launch.

The three titles that make up Ripstone's contribution to the program will be Knytt Underground, Big Sky Infinity, and an as yet unannounced title.

Knytt Underground is being developed by Nifflas and Green Hill and is an old-school platformer that has you exploring huge environments in the vein of indie classic VVVVVV.

For those that find platforming too sedate, look no further than Boss Baddie and VooFoo Studios twin-stick shooter Big Sky Infinity, sequel to face-melting PC original Really Big Sky.

Big Sky Infinite looks to be taking advantage of the Vita's shiny second stick, and if the original is anything to go by will serve up a healthy dose of frenetic action as your pilot your upgradeable ship in a mission to wipe out all life that gets in your way.

There's not been a release date attached to either title just yet, but given they'll be both shown at Gamescom next week, we'd expect it shouldn't be too long to wait.
