Survey: 57 per cent of UK consumers put off by iPhone 4 by reception issues
Consumer study shows that UK put off by Antennagate
A new consumer study has revealed that the iPhone 4’s antenna problems have put a serious dent in its UK prospects.
According to interviews conducted by Opinium Research, one in four of those questioned is now less likely to move to an iPhone 4, with a whopping 57 per cent claiming that they now have no intention of jumping on board the Retina display train.
Even existing Apple fans in the UK are turning away, it seems, with 45 per cent of 3GS owners stating that, following negative media reports, they would no longer consider upgrading to the iPhone 4.
Opium Research’s James Enderby summed up the findings: "With 90 per cent of iPhone owners stating that they are satisfied with the level of service they receive, it's interesting to compare how few people would now purchase an iPhone after the media attention surrounding the antenna fiasco."
His conclusion is damning: "Our research shows that, by not dealing with such a major issue well through the media, brands, no matter how big, can have their profile dented in the public's eye."
