Project Natal-esque gesture-based interface developed for mobile

Forget Project Natal for Xbox 360 - motion tracking on mobile phones it where it's at.

Students at the University of Tokyo have created a mobile UI which uses a camera attachment to track a user's finger.

Using information based on the user's gestures, the Ishikawa-Komuro Lab developed UI then translates the movements into on-screen actions.

With both Microsoft's Project Natal and Sony's PlayStation Move going on sale this year, gesture-based gaming is going to be all the rage.

Maybe we'll see the mobile industry getting a slice of the action too.
