GC 2008: PSP installed base reaches 41 million worldwide
But where are the games?

While unveiling the new PSP 3000 during Sony's Leipzig Games Convention press conference, Sony president David Reeves revealed the latest installed figures for the handheld.
Worldwide, then, 41 million PSPs have made it off shop shelves and into people's homes. To put it into perspective, the equivalent end-of-year 07 figure was 34 million. Hardly a DS-like speedy rise, but a respectable user base, nonetheless.
Meanwhile, in Europe and other PAL territories the figure is 13.4 million. Which we'd love to compare to the last time we were told those details but we can't currently find them. So we can't.
More important than all of that, though, was the fact Reeves didn't really talk about PSP games during the presentation. Which is worrying, because Skype alone isn't going to carry the PSP 3000…
